The Crescent Primary School

The Crescent Primary School is situated in a beautiful, historic building spanning over a century. Our school occupies what was formerly the Selhurst Grammar School for Boys, which opened in September 1914. However, due to the outbreak of World War One the school was requisitioned after only a year for use as a war hospital in 1915.

We have three historic plaques in school, recording the names of former pupils who died in World War I and World War II.

In the 1970s the school became a comprehensive school known as Selhurst High School for Boys, which closed in 1988 due to falling student numbers. The building went on to become Selhurst Mathematics and Computing Specialist School, a sixth form college that closed in the late 1990s.

The building was renovated and re-opened in 2011 under its new name 'The Crescent Primary School', a three-form entry Primary School. Our school was at its fullest in July 2018, with two ‘bulge classes in year six' consisting of nearly 690 children across 23 classes.
