In year 1, we have 3 classes – 1B, 1D and 1L taught by Miss Bucknor, Miss Davey and Mr Larkin. We also have 3 amazing TAs who help to support the children within in each of the 3 classes throughout the day. They are, Mrs Leggett, Mrs Babatunde and Mrs Spokes.


1D – Wednesday & Friday

1B – Tuesday & Friday

1L – Tuesday & Thursday

Homework – Will go out every Friday and is Collected in every Wednesday.

Reading Records – Changed every Monday and Thursday. These must be bought in everyday for Guided Reading sessions.

Homework will be sent out on Friday to be returned to school each Wednesday for marking.  The ‘menu’ type homework allows children to choose which homework they would like to do each week based on what subjects interests them the most.  Please date the menu to show which homework has been completed each week.

Upcoming trips

For our topic Time Travellers, we will travel back in time with our Castles and Knights work shop. We will learn what life was like during medieveal and how people lived.


Our class books will be ‘There’s a Rangtan in my bedroom’ ‘And Tango Makes Three’ ‘The Lion Inside’ ‘Aesop’s Fables – The Hare and the Tortoise’ ‘The Proudest Blue’ we will be learning: How to identify rhymes in poems How to identify patterns in rhymes Understand the difference between fiction and non-fiction Understand the key features of an advert What persuasive language is.


This term we will we focusing on

  • counting in 2s, 5s and 10s
  • We will be looking at equal groups and sharing
  • We will be learning how to find a half and quarter of a shape and an amount
  • Recognising equal groups
  • Make arrays



Our IPC topic this term is ‘A day in the life’. We will be learning about a variety of professions and also considering what kind of profession we might like to do. We will also be looking at how jobs change over time. Our IPC topic covers a variety of subjecys including Geography, History, Health and Well-being, DT and Art.

We will be exploring different types of buildings and where they might be. How TV has changed over time. Which different people we might need help from in different scenarios. How uniform has changed over time for different jobs anddiscussing what our favourite job would be in the future.

Weekly Timetables

Year 1 are following continuous provision to help the children transition into the Key Stage 1 curriculum. In Autumn 2, they will use a standardised timetable.
