Supporting your child at home

Please read with your child at least 3 times a week. We will send home 2 reading books on a Monday for you to read at home throughout the week. Please can both of these book be returned to school on Friday. Please also use the books available on bug club to read at home with your child.

We will be covering phase 4 in our phonics lessons this half term.

Please can your child continue to come to school wearing their PE kit on their designated PE day.

The PE days are as follows:

RV: Friday

RB: Thursday

RW: Friday

Continous Provision/ Free-flow

In Reception, our learning revolves around play and children will be given the opportunity to explore and investigate learning with independence.  As part of our continuous provision, during the day the children have the opportunity to independently choose which areas they would like to learn in, either the classrooms or our outdoor learning environment. Continuous provision enables the children to explore recent learning, practice new skills and follow their own interests in a variety of different hands-on and practical ways.Throughout the day there are also some whole class teaching sessions and focus groups.

The children use lots of different materials for arts and crafts. We would welcome donations of items such as pasta, lentils, sequins, buttons and junk modelling (cleaned recycling items e.g. cardboard boxes, plastic bottles etc.) We will have a board in the EYFS area where we will post items we would like to have donated. Please keep an eye out, and let your child's class teacher know if you can help.

The children are enjoying the mud kitchen outside. If you have any old kitchen equipment, such as pots, pan or cooking utensils you would like to donate they would be gratefully received!

As your child develops and learns they will start to use their knowledge and skills in a variety of contexts.  We would like you to contribute to your child’s Profile and working document, by telling us when your child does something that makes you say “Wow!”  This can be anything from using new vocabulary, sharing some new learning or information, holding a pencil correctly, writing, learning how to skip; anything which shows an achievement.

Please find some ‘wow cards’ attached.  These can be completed at any time during the school year to share your child’s achievements.  When you have completed a card please hand it to your child's class teacher.

Homework will be set after half term.  When homework has been set, please choose one task to do every week and return your completed activity, with your homework book, on Thursday.  Your book will be marked and returned on Monday.
